Potatoes

Seed potatoes usually are grown in areas isolated from processing potato acreage to ensure genetic purity and disease control. Seed potatoes grown on the Rathdrum Prairie are stored over winter, then shipped to the Columbia Basin the next spring for planting. Production in North Idaho is limited due to the amount of rocks native to the Prairie soils.
