Benefits of Kentucky Bluegrass

In addition to the monetary benefits of the bluegrass industry, there are several other values associated with growing Kentucky bluegrass. Growing Kentucky bluegrass helps to stabilize and build the soil by forming a sod that prevents run-off and erosion of our precious topsoil, either by wind or rain. It also helps purify the water, protect the aquifer, and provide us with cleaner water to drink. Bluegrass also produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide and other air pollutants. It traps dust and dirt, makes playing fields safer, preserves our open spaces and adds economic value to local properties.
