Alfalfa

Alfalfa is a perennial plant (Medicago sativa) of the PULSE family, probably native to Persia and now widely cultivated. It is an important pasture and hay plant. Alfalfa is valued for its high yield of protein, its effectiveness in weed control, its role in crop rotation and nitrogen fixation, and as a source of chlorophyll and carotene.
