Who
are the Farmers of North Idaho?
The Farmers of North Idaho
include Idaho farmers and businesses engaged in
the production of agricultural commodities such
as cereal and forage crops, legumes, and turfgrasses.
The goals of the farmers are:
- To foster cooperation between
farmers, processors, and local, state and federal
governments.
- To help preserve agricultural
lands while working in conjunction with the
state and local governments, and the local communities
to help create a balance between farming and
the demands of development.
- To sponsor scientific
research to further the grass seed industry
and to seek alternative methods to grass field
burning.
- To educate and inform
the public about practices used in grass seed
production. In a nutshell, the farmers goal
is to maintain their farms, to educate the public
and local officials about the industry, research
alternatives to grass field burning, and to
gain the support of local communities.
